Ride the elevator and kick back and relax in open air cinema, six levels above the ground. A slice of Palm Springs in the heart of the city.
Expect to see more old-school gems, cinephile classics and cult and art house movies thrown in alongside blockbuster new releases. Click here to see what they’ve got lined up as part of Program number 1.
Program highlights include:
Following a call-out for ‘requests’ last month, hundreds of suggestions were received from fans eager to see their favourite film onscreen at Rooftop Movies. Films screening on Tuesdays have been selected from these suggestions and include The Big Lebowski (5 November), Donnie Darko (12 November), Dirty Dancing (19 November), Mean Girls (26 November) and Bladerunner (3 December).
Films screening on Thursdays throughout November have been curated in conjunction with Pridefest. Rooftop Movies will be screening I’m So Excited (7 November), Hedwig & The Angry Itch (14 November), Milk (21 November) and Cloudburst (28 November).
All Sunday night films are family friendly with G or PG ratings and include The Princess Bride (3 November), Teen Woolf (10 November), Spirited Away (17 November), Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (24 November) and Fantastic Mr. Fox (1 December).
Presented by WA’s leading screen resource centre, the Film and Television Institute (FTI), Tropfest is Australia’s most prestigious short film festival and it will be held across Rooftop Movies, Northbridge Piazza and the Perth Cultural Centre on Sunday 8 December.
An initiative developed in partnership between ARTRAGE and the City of Perth Parking, Rooftop Movies is located on the open air, sixth floor of the Roe Street car park in Northbridge. Pedestrian access is of James Street opposite the Piazza Screen. Automobile access to the car park is off Roe Street.
The panoramic views of the Perth city skyline provide the perfect backdrop for the venue, which brings the essence of Palm Springs to Northbridge. Think: acres of astro turf, palm trees, pink flamingos and vintage caravans. Rooftop Movies is open nightly, excluding Mondays, from 6pm.
Tickets are $13 website pre-sale, $15 door-sale and for $8.50 you can park your car in the Roe Street car park all night from 6pm (prices include booking fees). Popcorn and drinks are available at the rooftop and you can pre-order a pizza when you purchase online.
